Count down to summer

Here are my pick of some must-haves to get you in tip-top shape for summer.

Kick off your regime and start from the inside out with these brand new supplements from Onca. There are two powders, that you tip into water or juice, and which you take in the morning (Activator) and last thing at night (Regenerator). But you’d better be quick: due to their ingredients which are all sourced from the Amazon (such as acai berry, guarana and Camu-Camu, a fruit that originates from the Amazon which has 80 times more vitamin C than an orange), there’ll only be 3,000 available worldwide per month. The cocktail of ingredients totals 21 and have an energising effect for the day and a detoxing effect while you sleep. Love the cute leopard illustration…

A good scrub is essential for sloughing off rough patches and raised bumps that seem to appear over winter. This soft-textured one, newly launched from Prada, is not harsh on the skin and leaves you silky smooth. Use two-three times a week for glowing limbs.

This luscious formula is just the thing for keeping your body smooth and radiant. A tiny drop goes a long way and the subtle scent lingers on the body long after you’ve dried off.

Beautifully complimenting the shower gel is this body oil. It sinks luxuriously into the body leaving a sheen and is not at all oily. The lovely pale pink bottle is just as subtle. Ancillary products are the new way to wear a scent – layer up from your shower to after-care for a long-lasting fragrance.

Use this, as and when you need, after showering (and ideally on the days when you have exfoliated with a scrub). This is one of the most effective gradual tanners that I have come across. It goes on really easy and has a silky formula and gives a sun-kissed (not overdone) look within hours. Best of all it smells gorgeous and contains aloe vera, almond oil and cocoa butter, as well as having an anti-cellulite formula. We like.

Talking of which, this little wonder helps reduce the appearance of cellulite, as well as firming the skin. Containing almond nut and a cocktail of ingredients, the gel-cream certainly gives a feeling of tightness and freshness, as well as visibly smoothing lumps and bumps.

I’m really impressed with this collection from M&S. Many years ago I was devoted to their cocoa butter deodorant but then they changed the formula and it just didn’t seem to work anymore. I have since avoided buying beauty bits from the store, until I tried this range. Cracked heels are an absolute no no when summer comes and the flip flops come out. This balm really works and is a fab alternative to some of the more medicinal products on the market.

Talking of balms, this multi-purpose luxury one from Shiffa can be used for all sorts of problems to prep you for summer. From healing cracked skin to nourishing nails, to using on dry patches to healing torn cuticles. Best of all is the luxurious packaging that all Shiffa products come in…

I love finding a good cleanser and come summer it is so important to keep skin feeling fresh and clean. This two-in-one from Payot is one of my new favourites. The water formula (my preferred option in a cleanser) deep cleans and tones and can also be used to take off eye make-up. Just swipe on with some cotton wool and it takes all the remnants of the day with it.

You can’t write about fantastic cleansers without mentioning Liz Earle’s cult hot cloth cleanser. This really, really works to leave skin feeling absolutely clean and dewy.

Lastly, on the subject of cleansers, are these new facial cloths from BeautyWorksWest. Containing aloe vera and pomegranate they are a luxe and organic version of the usual face wipes and are perfect for travelling.

After you’ve chosen your desired method of cleansing, make sure you use a cream or serum over night. Night formulas really do work on your skin while you slumber and you’ll soon notice the difference in the morning. Brand new from REN is this anti-ageing concentrate which contains natural vitamin A and retinoid analogue. Retinoids seem to be the beauty buzzword of the moment, when it comes to anti-ageing. Use a few drops of this complex to minimise the appearance of wrinkles, imperfections and age spots. I really noticed that my skin looked plumper and healthier after just a few days.

For those who like to stick to products within the same range, this is also new from REN. I really like how REN mixes nature with science and this fab sunscreen is just the thing for seeing you through the summer months (or indeed all year round). Use over a moisturiser like the one below…

I am a sucker for any creams that have a peachy hue. This lush one from Clarins does exactly what is says on the tin. It is velvety and really luxurious to use and gives a radiance and freshness to the skin.

Love this new non-oily serum – it controls frizz and leaves hair sleek and smooth after blow drying. Just the thing to combat summer humidity.

Keep it simple and quick, when the temperatures heat up. No-one wants to be out and about caked in make-up under the blistering sun (we wish!). Edit your make-up collection and invest in a couple of these new products for summer:

Brush on a bronzer, like this new one from Smooch, which is lovely and matt to give a natural glow
Just about to launch from the new Liz Earle Colour Collection, her first make-up range, are these pretty blushes. In fact, these are so new, the packaging isn't even finalised yet. All matt with natural shades – from taupes to roses, these are guaranteed to be a hit.
This rosy rub on cheek and lip stain from Soap & Glory is perfect to dab and go. Very cute.
The Multiple from Nars is a staple in every beauty editor's make-up bag. Orgasm is a blush rose shade, perfect for paler skins.
A Million Kisses from Lush is a cute lip stain in a tin. Brilliant for a swipe of colour for that 'undone' look when out and about.
Nuxe's Rose Legendaire lip gloss gives a natural hue as well as working to protect lips and keep them moist with its mango butter and vitamin E.
Alternatively, go for the statement lip while keeping the rest of the face neutral. This red (09 Tsuyabeni) from Sensai (from Kanebo) is possibly the most perfect scarlet lipstick out there. Utterly glam.
For stay-put eye make-up that won't melt half way down your face, a primer is a great idea for summer. Paul & Joe's looks so pretty, too.
After the primer, apply a natural shade to the whole lid. This peachy shade from Bourjois is from their Intense range (02). It is long-lasting and has a slight shimmer to it and looks really fab on.
For an evening look, or to make your eyes pop (leave lips neutral), apply a thin line to the lid with a little flick at the end. This gel eyeliner from Fashionista is so unusual – a sea green, glittery effect. Really dramatic.
A must for summer toes is a popping colour. This is my favourite - 027 from Paul & Joe. Love the box adorned with kittens as much as this hot pink shade.
Alternatively, chose one of the new Neons launching for summer from Nails Inc. The violent violet, Holland Park, is my current fave.
Ok, ok. So this isn't make-up, but I just had to mention it as it is so pretty. Lush's Gorilla Perfume in Imogen Rose could well be a bright lipstick but is instead a portable solid fragrance. Delicious.
