Voyage to Vietnam

On my dreamer’s list for today and on trend for travellers for 2013…

Following on from last year’s launch of a new direct flight from the UK to Hannoi and Ho Chi Minh City (, the buzz surrounding the country grows even further this year…

Foodie haven at Fusion Alya

Known for its design-led properties in stunning locations is Fusion Resorts ( It firstly opened its forward-thinking retreat in Danang, in which spa treatments are available at no extra cost. Now, opening in Hoi An any day now, is Fusion Alya, a specialised culinary resort. It’s the first of its kind in Asia, offering guests inspiring food experiences included in the room rate. The design reflects the Portuguese architecture of the area with a choice of apartments, penthouses and villas. What’s more, further down the line for mid 2013, is Fusion Maia in Phu Quoc. It’s found on the one of the area’s most beautiful beaches and offers an all-inclusive spa on the water. Genius.

Swept away at Anantara

Among the other new additions to Vietnam’s hotel scene is the new Anantara Mui Ne resort ( It boasts a wonderfully untouched beach location and a charming spa with treatments inspired by the lotus flower.

Longing for Lan Ko
Longing for Lang Ko: Banyan Tree sets up
Aching for Angsana in Lang Ko

But it is Lang Ko, a stunningly beautiful coastal area in the shelter of the Truong Son Mountains, which is set to be the country’s new playground for jetsetters. Both Banyan Tree (, with its pagoda-style rooms, and Angsana (, which uses traditional Vietnamese architecture as its design inspiration, have just opened two exciting new ventures, both with showstopping spas and innovative dining options.
