Out of the Ark… and into your bathroom

My new beauty crush is this genius skincare range from ARK. It’s USP is that it does away with the usual skin types to categorise its products (such as dry, oily, normal etc) and instead has made the range age-appropriate.

The products are divided into three age-related categories: age prepare (teens to early 30s), age maintain (mid 30s to 50) and age repair (50s and beyond).  A range of eight SkinResponse Serums can also be added into your routine. These have been designed to intensify the bio-active treatment of your skin as and when you can see it is required.

As a range, this feels ultra-luxe and top end, although the prices are really reasonable (most products are not more than £30). I also like the new ‘age’ approach, as, let’s face it, our skin changes with age and with how our life changes, too. The fact the products are extremely well-thought through and complement each other is another plus point. The serum collection is a highlight –  with eight super-targeted products to experiment with

I come under the Age Maintain range and kicked off my new routine with the gorgeous Conditioning Cleanser. It’s a rinse-off formula but is extremely gentle, containing blue lotus, kiwi and passion fruit and moringa oil, soothing redness and inflammation and sweeping away make-up and dirt.

Afterwards I’ve been drenching skin with moisture with the lush Replenishing Moisturiser. It contains Co-enzyme Q10 and is packed with natural moisturising agents such as Shea Butter and Olive Oil. It also contains anti-ageing peptides, so wrinkles are smoothed and skin genuinely feels and plump and toned. It’s not too heavy or greasy and sinks into the skin leaving it velvety to the touch.

The Renewing Exfoliator, meanwhile, is designed to use once a week and is more of a treatment product. You put it on damp skin (the weird tingly sensation is to be expected – it’s the exfoliator beginning to work). Once it dries, you can rinse off (it takes about 5-10 minutes). It is a granule-free mask which uses Multifruit Acids to slough off dead cells from the skin’s surface. There’s also white clay within the formula, which increases circulation to boost exfoliation without stripping skin’s essential oils. It leaves skin super-soft and I noticed a real difference in skin’s texture and appearance.

The Soothing Masque is great for calming and nurturing irritated skin. With a blend of Vitamin A, C, E and F, it diminishes the look of wrinkles and firms up skin. I noticed it really helps towards the end of the week when my skin begins to look tired and not as ‘perky’ as I’d like. Definitely my new best friend!

As already mentioned, alongside the core products of the range, there are a variety of serums to add-in to your routine. Each with a different focus (such as firming, radiance, hydrating…) You can use your chosen serum directly on to the skin before moisturising or mixed in with your moisturiser or mask as and when you need an extra boost. My Antioxidant Skin Response Serum works to protect against environmental pollutants by reinforcing the skin’s barrier. It contains a powerful antioxidant blend of Grape Seed, White Tea, Blue Lotus, Gojiberry, Vitamin E and ‘continuous release’ antioxidant enzymes. It also helps to slow down the visible signs of ageing and free radical damage. It makes me look young and fresh – and not, scuse the pun, out of the Ark.
