Continuing my look at what’s on the radar for the year ahead, today we’re visiting: CHINA
Tourism in China is one of the most buoyant in the world with many top brands opening its doors across the vast country to a growing affluent market.
My pick of the bunch includes the new Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, found in the vibrant city of Shenzhen, a UNESCO City of Design, and home to an exciting art scene (www.fourseasons.com/Shenzhen). Expect pan-Asian cuisine at the hotel’s Foo restaurant, gadget-filled rooms with views over the city and ultra-modern interiors.
Meanwhile, over on Hong Kong is the new Mira Moon, part of the Design Hotels stable (www.designhotels.com/mira_moon). Located in the upcoming and quirky area of Wan Chai, the hotel has been designed by Wanders & Woo, under the creative direction of Marcel Wanders. The sleek hotel uses Chinese motifs and icons throughout, such as the peony, the moon and jade rabbit, against a rich red and lacquered white colour palette. Smart technology includes in-room Air Play music systems and pre-installed apps on iPad minis, to access hotel services and the city’s latest hotspots. Sure to be a destination in its own right is the hotel’s 50-seat restaurant Super Giant, which serves Chinese-Spanish fusion tapas in a fanciful setting,
