My latest discovery is Retallack Resort, near Padstow – such a wonderful way to see Cornwall – self-catering, 5-star style. The resort is made up of self-catering lodges and a selection of facilities.
Our family and a friend’s family checked into the four-bedroom Daymer Lodge, which comes complete with a hot tub, contemporary kitchen and four bedrooms. The living space is spread over two floors – a great idea for two families sharing – giving us all plenty of room.
On site, there’s tons to do: a spa, swimming pool, children’s club with film nights and gamers’ nights on offer, tennis courts, gym, a Flowrider and lounge area. There’s also a coffee bar area and a James Nathan (winner of Masterchef 2008) restaurant, The Green Room.
Watch this space for more posts about our week’s stay here!
While down in Cornwall, I’ll also be exploring nearby things to do. Today was the turn of Trerice, a charming Elizabethan manor house, renowned for its ‘stillness’ and ‘tranquility’ – our picnic stop with four kids in tow may have temporarily put paid to that! Sorry!
