I’ve fallen in love with Penhaligon‘s tin of fragrances – decorated with whimsical illustrations of fashions of the past – so it’s going to be hard to give this one away. But for someone extra special, this Fragrance Selection tin, £35, will be a wonderful surprise.
Not only is the tin ‘oh-so-pretty’ but inside are four tiny exquisite bottles of the brand’s signature fragrances: Vaara, Malabah, Ellenisia, Iris Prima and Quercus.
These tiny little bottles are super-stylish in their own right. My favourite is Iris Prima, which is a fresh, citrusy scent based on the graceful flight of a prima ballerina. Quercus combines a light burst of citrus with basil, supported by a heart accord of jasmine, cardamom and muguet that is sweet, spiced and delicate. Varra, meanwhile, is deep and spicy, blending coriander and carrot seeds, saffron and quince. It is lightened by rose, magnolia, a touch of freesia and a whisper of iris. Malabah is soft and sensual with citrus, green coriander and smoky earl grey tea top notes giving way to a heart of rose, ginger and aromatic spices. Lastly, Ellenisia is a sweet-vanilla floral, with violet and mandarin, gardenia, jasmine and tuberose. Yes, please, santa!
