In today’s bumper edition of my beauty Christmas Gift Guide, I bring you not one product but two from the classic beauty brand that is Yardley London, which is having a bit of a renaissance of late.
The Yardley London Polaire fragrance is one of their most modern. It has a fresh, fruity green top note of pear and freesia followed by a spicy floral heart of rose, ginger and pink pepper. There’s an added depth to it with a powdery base note of patchouli and amber, which gives it a sophisticated edge. The Gift Set, £19.99, contains the scent as well as a lovely body lotion so that the fragrance lingers throughout the day. It’s really pretty and a lovely idea for a gift for a friend or relative.
A fantastic stocking filler comes from Yardley London’s April Violets range. The Moisturising Body Lotion sinks into the skin and contains shea butter and glycerine to help combat dryness. Grape seed oil and sweet almond oil also make sure skin is left feeling soft, smooth and toned. Yardley is one of the UK’s oldest beauty brands, having launched nearly 250 years ago, and the sweetly-scented April Violets Collection is one of its classic sweet, sugary fragrances.
It’s a fresh and sensual floral that opens with fresh, green violet leaves, citrus and geranium top notes combined with a heart of sweetly scented parma violets, iris, jasmine, ylang and tuberose with warm base notes of vanilla. It is delicate and fairly powdery – which I love – and seems so very much of the moment despite being created many years ago.
