Glow with the glow: beauty aides for the party season

Now that party season is about to start, try one of these beauty savers for all-round loveliness – no matter what time you get to bed. Too much alcohol, lack of sleep and one too many unhealthy canapés can play havoc with your skin. It can become dehydrated, puffy and blotchy so follow these quick-fixes for a revitalized complexion.

First of all, cleanse skin using Ole Henriksen’s Pure Truth 3 In 1 Cleansing Gelee (£24, lookfantastic.com). The scented orange jelly is wonderfully kind on the skin and melts away dirt, debris and make-up leaving skin baby-soft. A reinvention of the cult beauty classic cold cream, this cleanses all impurities while nourishing the skin. It contains vitamin C, to boost collagen synthesis and brighten, virgin cherry oil, rich in vitamins and antioxidants to soften and nourish, and rose hip seed oil, a source of omegas 3, 6 and 9, to regenerate cells and repair damage. It also transforms from its jelly texture into oil on the skin and then into milk when you add water.

Rodial’s Super Acids X-Treme Hangover Mask (£45, rodial.co.uk) is a post-party recovery clay mask that contains fruit acids to improve the tone and texture of the skin and deeply boost hydration levels. It deeply cleanses, exfoliates and restores a healthy looking complexion.

Late nights can leave eyes tired and saggy. Banish the bags with Dr Andrew Weil for Origins’ Mega Bright Dark Circle Minimiser (£32, origins.co.uk), which illuminates skin with gold and peach pearl extracts.

Throughout the day, replenish thirsty skin by spritzing on Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir (£31, caudalie.com). The multi-tasker tones and soothes with its orange blossom water and gives a boost of radiance with grape extract.

Skyn Iceland’s Skin Hangover Emergency Kit (£17.50, skyniceland.com) is a bumper pack of products – including an eye gel and cooling lotion – that work together to restore and soothe irritated and inflamed skin.

Offering a trio of amazing skin fixes is one of my all-time favourite beauty brand, Kiehl’s. Drench limbs and body with their signature cult product Creme de Corps (£27, kiehls.co.uk) to salvage dull, dehydrated skin. It contains jojoba butter, shea butter, beta-carotene, squalane and nurturing oils derived from sesame seeds, soybeans, almonds and avocados and leaves skin glossy and deeply moisturised. One of my beauty musts.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (£36, kiehls.co.uk) is packed full of active botanicals and essential oils and has been designed to work through the night when skin is at its peak for recovery. Its complex blend of naturally replenishing botanical oils, such as evening primrose (rich in Omega-3 fatty acids), and a blend of essential oils, work with the skin’s natural nocturnal activity to instantly penetrate deep down and dramatically restore skin overnight. Even when you’ve had just a few hours sleep, this helps to restore skin so you look fit to go in the morning.

Recently launched is Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum (£36, kiehls.co.uk) – an anti-ageing solution to visibly smooth, lift, firm, and restore youthful shape to eyes. It targets sagging, crow’s feet and fine lines and wrinkles and is an essential piece of kit to combat late nights and burning the candle at both ends.

Finally, don’t overlook your hair when it comes to pepping up your routine. It can often become lacklustre and dull due to late nights and too much partying.

Dr Bronner’s wonderfully packaged Citrus Conditioning Hair Rinse (£8.99, drbronner.co.uk) nourishes without synthetic ingredients. It contains organic Shikakai powder (from the seed pods of the small South Asian tree Acacia Concinna), and is widely used in India for soft shiny hair. It also taps into the traditional use of lemon juice on the hair – which leaves hair smooth and manageable. Organic coconut, olive and hemp fatty acids give moisturising properties for shiny, well-conditioned locks.

Lastly, the aptly named Hangover Hair by DGJ Organics (£5.99, waitrose.com) (a brilliantly priced brand devised by Daniel Galving Junior) works to replenish hair during the party season. Diet and lifestyle can take its toll so hair feels brittle and undernourished, the conditioner (and there’s also a shampoo) contains wheat protein, coconut extracts, vitamins, honey and organic lavender to revie and detoxify. A lovely treat.
