Giving a wonderful old-age glamour to my beauty routine at the moment is British brand The Vintage Cosmetic Company. Offering a range of beauty tools and accessories – from make-up bags to retro hair barrettes – they hark back to the glamour of the 1950s. Being a lover of the looks seen in Mad Men and Call the Midwife – this is totally up my street.
I can’t remember the last time I updated my hair brush so when I saw their versions, I had to try them. Suffice to say, I’ve ditched my tired-looking black brush for these lovelies. The Oval Paddle Brush, £14.50, is cream with a pale blue backing to the bristles. It has a mix of nylon and boar bristles and is great for detangling, smoothing cuticles and creating a sleek and shiny look.
The Rectangular Paddle Brush, £14, is great for mid to long length hair (I have shoulder length) to create a sleek and shiny finish. I’ve been rough drying hair after washing and then finishing off with the Oval version and using the larger Rectangular to keep my locks looking shiny and ‘together’ during the day. Betty would be proud!
Just a little note here about the packaging – which is so gorgeous. So pretty in fact that it seemed a shame to break them out of their floral boxes. The products are really affordable too and look so much more than their price point. A great find!
