Have bag, will travel: Redland London teams up with Pantone

Being a travel writer means being on the road a lot. This in turn means I’ve got packing down to a fine art. It all starts, of course, with your bag of choice and I know just what I like: something that is practical yet stylish, hard-wearing and easy to carry, roomy but not too bulky. Yes, I’m a hard girl to please.

But, my latest find are these holdalls from Redland London which are ticking all the right boxes. The brand has teamed up with colour experts Pantone to create a new collection of travel bags in a fab range of colours. As you may have guessed, the chic backpacks, holdalls and soft luggage come in eight Pantone colours: Beeswax, Phantom, Cabaret, Loganberry, Tango Red, Mood Indigo, Capri Breeze and Castlerock.

My holdall – in the rich navy Mood Indigo – is a lovely round, barrel shape. It has a spacious main compartment and is just the right size for weekends away. Inside is a  printed lining, plus a front pocket and adjustable shoulder strap. It’s light, practical and looks smart enough for checking into the smartest hotels.

Interestingly, Redland London has its roots in the Carlton brand of luggage, which was launched by the owners’ father in 1976. Taking on the legacy of his commitment to quality, that their father became renowned for with Carlton, brothers Eli and Joseph Zekaria, the founders of Redland London, have given their brand a fresh design ethos for a new generation, with an eye on innovation.

The collaboration with Pantone is one such step. The teaming up with the universally renowned colour experts give the range a fashion-forward, colour focus, that will catch the eye of male and females alike. Underlying this is great-quality bags with modern designs.

A special nod also goes to the cute backpacks, which also come in the Pantone colours and are available in mini and larger ‘laptop’ sizes.

For those wanting to be ‘bang on trend’, all of the bags are also available in the pastel shades of Serenity (cool blue) and Rose Quartz (pale pink) – the Pantone Colours of the Year for 2016. Pretty marvellous.

The new collection launches this week and will be available at Selfridges and online at redlandlondon.com
