These two little lovelies have hit my desk and I’ve already earmarked them for my holidays. Renowned for its high factor suncare products which are kind to the skin, Vichy has launched two innovative sprays to its Ideal Soleil collection for summer 2016.
The new Ideal Soleil Invisible Hydrating Mist in SPF50 (also available in SPF30), £16.50, has a unique dry-touch texture that feels freshening on contact with the skin. While it is water-resistant, it also is deeply hydrating and leaves no white marks on skin.
Like all of the brand’s products, it contains Thermal Spa Water which helps to hydrate the body – ideal for when exposed to the sun – and prevent heat rash in those prone to sun sensitivity. In fact, the products’ patented anti-UVB and UVA protection have been specially developed for sensitive skin.
The second new launch is the Ideal Soleil After-Sun In-Shower or on Dry Skin spray, £13. This is so genius and the first of its kind. After you’ve been sunbathing or traipsing round the tourist sights – this beauty will put you back together again.
Summer exposure to sun, chlorine and salt water causes the outer layers of skin to lose their ability to maintain normal moisture levels, making it appear dry, dull and flaky. This can be spritzed on damp skin in the shower, before washing, then rinsed off, or used directly on dry skin. The oil-blend contains a cocktail of goodies to restore hydration again and also helps to extend your tan. Shea Oil, apricot kernel, blackcurrant seed oil and echium seed oil all work together as a rich emollient so skin is left glowing, supple and smooth.
While we are on the subject, I also want to give the brand’s suncare for children a mention. Having two boys who have ultra-sensitive skin and who are allergic to most sun protectors, this is my latest gem and is so far proving to be something of a lifesaver. Normally, going in the sun with the kids often causes redness, itching and irritability – mainly because of the sun creams! It’s often a weigh-up between using a product that causes a reaction or nothing at all (not good). After many years of trial and error, we’ve narrowed it down to a couple of brands that are better than the others – i.e. give less of a reaction.
So far, Vichy’s Ideal Soleil Milk, SPF50, however, has been working its magic – with none of the side-effects many other creams have. Maybe it’s down to the Thermal Spa Water or the dermatological testing, but the lotion is easy to apply with a soft texture and has a high protection factor – it contains no fragrance or parabens and has purposely been developed for sensitive skins. It will be first in the suitcase! Available from www.feelunique.com
