Summer’s a breeze: how to protect and forget

Yes! Finally, summer has arrived. And, as we all know, to avoid ‘lobster-status’ we need to ramp up our sun protection regime. But what’s the best way to marry  your usual anti-ageing skincare regime – think: serum, moisturiser, BB Cream – with another layer of sun protection?

Luckily, Sensai’s Silky Bronze Cellular Protective range has been developed to deal with the consequences of tanning – lines, pigmentation and loss of elasticity – as well as giving protection against UV damage. While it’s a real treat for holidays, it also works a dream in everyday life, especially when the sun comes out at home!

The combination of advanced skin protection technology, to defend skin from the sun’s UV rays, with sophisticated skincare ingredients, able to tackle both the immediate effects of the sun and those that arise over time, means you are tackling all you need to look after your skin but in just one cream.

The Silky Bronze Cellular Protective Stick, £40, is a handy, little sunscreen stick perfect for lips, earlobes, nose and the eye area. It has an SPF30 and is water resistant – it’s perfect for throwing in your handbag or beach bag for application on the go. It goes on smoothly and leaves no residue. All the products in the range (in fact it’s Sensai’s USP) contain Koishimaru Silk, which hydrates, firms and helps collagen quality within the skin.

The Cellular Protective Cream for Face, £80, is a real gem. It feels like a luxe moisturiser – although it is not too heavy – just velvety in texture. It hydrates and also has an advanced UV filter to protect against sun damage. It sinks in quickly and leaves no white residue. After sun exposure, I found that skin was left with a lovely sun-kissed look. No lobster-red to be found! From:

While we are on the subject of tanning, I’ve also come across this Carrot Sun Tan Accelerator, £18,- a pre-product which helps your skin to tan quickly and evenly.

It is best used on olive skin or on fair skin that already has a base tan and it contains no SPF so must be used with proper sun protection. It contains the natural tan accelerators L-Tyrosine and carrot oil which stimulate and support the skin’s natural tanning process. It also contains henna, which enhances a tan to a deep golden hue as well as prolonging it.

Carrot oil contains carotene antioxidants, vitamin A, and omega-3 fatty acids, so it also moisturises limbs and body.

While these can give fantastic tanning results, you should remember to tan responsibly. Only increase exposure times to the sun slowly and gradually over time as you build up your tan. Take regular breaks out of the sun during your tanning sessions in order to be kind to your skin. Apply the carrot cream over your sun cream and wait for the results.

  1. I use the Carrot Sun Tanning cream as well – but it burns so badly if I don’t wear proper sunscreen first. What I like to do is put sunscreen on my shoulders, knees, back, and anywhere else where I get easily burnt. Oh and of course my face. Then, I apply my tanning cream. That has been working a lot for me for the past years, because before I only used to apply to my face, and I got extreme sunburn several times! So, great advice from you & i enjoyed reading 🙂
