As the temperatures plummet with the onset of Autumn, we need a bit of extra pampering to stave off dry skin, frazzled hair and to keep limbs soft and smooth.
Start your day by drenching your body with Dove‘s new Nourishing Care Shower Oil, £2.50. The rich formula locks in hydration as you cleanse. Inspired by the beauty rituals of Morocco’s traditional hammam, the shower oil targets dry skin and gently cares to keep skin hydrated for up to 24 hours.
Surprisingly for an oil, it lathers up to clean and moisturise in one step. It also has a zesty fragrance of wild lingonberry, citron zest and bergamot to give an invigorating start to your day. Available at: boots.com
Working from within, these new GLOW supplements, £15 for 60, are also a great kick-start to your day (and, indeed, the best reason ever to revive your beauty routine for a new season ahead).
Helping to achieve healthy hair, skin and nails, the supplements are from STRIPPD – a brand new range of super-clean protein powders and supplements designed for women. With a nourishing mix of Vitamins A and E, zinc, copper, collagen, iron and grape seed extract, the cocktail works together to pack a beauty punch. Also in the collection are supplements to aid weight loss (Trim & Tone) and some to support overall vitality and wellbeing especially after exercising (Diet Multi-Vitamins). Available at:
Another new launch is Vichy’s Ideal Body collection of body-care products and I’ve been going bonkers about this Hand & Nail Cream, £7.50, from the brand. With an SPF15 to protect hands from sun damage (and those tell-tale age spots), the formula also contains 10 luxurious oil to nourish and protect – think: apricot kernel, blackcurrant, jojoba, reship and macadamia. It has a lovely, non-greasy texture and feels super luxe to use (throw one in your bag and you’ll be dabbing it on all day)
All the products in the range, which include a body serum-milk, balm and dry oil, contain hyaluronic acid, to hydrate and plump, as well as Vichy’s signature thermal water, packed with skin-loving goodies. Get one now. Available at: boots.com
Dubbed a ‘beauty sleep in a jar’, Korres‘ new Wild Rose Advanced Repair Sleeping Facial is the sort of thing you need if you are short on sleep but aim to be high on life.
I’ve long been an advocate for wearing a night cream – while you snooze, you let it get to work (what’s not to like?) – but Korres’ new product (I should say new for the UK, it is a bestseller in the US) sets itself apart from many others in that it really does give a visible difference to skin the morning after, even after just one night. It contains wild rose oil and vitamin C to rejuvenate skin texture, aloe and jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid. The results? Your complexion looks brighter, more even-toned and radiant, not to mention deeply moisturised.
Another benefit is its texture – many night creams are heavy and gloopy – but this has a gorgeously light soufflé feel which melts into skin – recharging it while you sleep. Available at: debenhams.com
Finally, are two little gems from my fave hair brand Duck & Dry – which complete the hip brand’s line-up of its six blow dry essentials.
Oomph! is a Dry Volume & Texture Spray, £16, packed with natural actives and essential oils, it gives volume and texture to dry hair and acts like a dry shampoo. Body is revived and excess oil is soaked up. Best of all, I have found that hair stays ‘soft’ and malleable (and not ‘crispy’ or over-dry like with some dry shampoos). It is perfect for prep before a night out or if you don’t want to wash hair every day.
Duck & Dry’s Fix Your Quiff Hairspray, £16, meanwhile, has the brand’s subtle floral scent (which gently perfumes hair – gorge). Its weightless formula gives a non-sticky finish and also allows hair to be flexible, giving it natural movement – despite holding a style. Perfect for those blustery days ahead.
