Mountain high, valley low: this new launch will transform your beauty routine.
Eau d’Altitude, an innovative beauty brand from Italy, combines two unlikely ingredients: the hydrating quality of pure mountain water with the mineral content of Trentino, or porphyry, stone.
The two elements were bought together by artist Paolo Colombini, a sculptor who works with stone from the Dolomite Mountains. He realised the minerals that the stone contained – such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium and zinc – could be potentially harnessed for the purposes of beauty. Teaming up with scientists Prof. Antonio Bettero and Prof. Fabio Brunetta, they analysed the benefits of Dolomitic water and stone and went on to develop an innovative biotechnological process capable of conveying the active ingredients of the substances deep into the skin… and the range was born.
While there is also a body-line of products, I have been trying some of the hero products in the facial skincare line. The range is suitable for all skin types, but is especially good for more mature skin. All the products contain vitamin E for skin hydration; vitamin C to help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, cell-oxidation and collagen degeneration. Also, each product contains specific active ingredients: hyaluronic acid and coenzyme Q10 for the face cream; the extract of Echinacea for the night cream and Ruscus extract for the eye. Use them all in conjunction and the effect is one of a more hydrated and nourished skin, which looks brighter and more uniform in appearance.
The Antioxidant Serum is the first step in the line. It contains a high concentration of a Vitamin C derivative and potent antioxidants to target wrinkles, spots and dull complexion. It goes on like a dream and sinks into the skin, giving it a smooth surface for moisturisation.
Nest up is the Energising Moisturising Face Cream. Suitable for all skin types it is velvety smooth and hydrates and plumps the complexion. the water’s properties have a nourishing effect while hyaluronic acid and Coenzyme Q10 evens out skin tone and clears bumps and uneven patches. It has a pure light feel and doesn’t feel too heavy, great for oilier complexions yet works equally well on dry skin.
The Eye Cream, meanwhile, erases puffiness and has a smoothing effect. It magically makes you look rejuvenated even if you’re feeling tired and sluggish.
Finally is the Face & Neck Gel. I’ve been using this on alternative days instead of the serum and as a base before moisturising. Containing aloe vera, it has a soothing effect – so it’s great after waxing or in hotter climates – it leaves skin soft and silky feeling and works as an instant uplift. Its particularly good for the décolleté area as it injects the epidermis with moisture and smooths away the effects of sun damage.
Overall, this is a super-intelligent skincare range – packed with scientific know-how and advanced ingredients – but crucially based around two essential, natural ingredients. We’re all told to drink more water, and now we can increase our intake by packing a punch with these products, too. Drink it up.
