Good hair days even when you travel

As a frequent traveller, I’m often in a quandary about what hair products I can feasibly fit in my case. Do I take the balm and leave the blow dry spray? Will I need a hair-spray or should I take my pre-straightener oil? Questions not too taxing, you understand, but still… a girl needs to make sure she has good hair, even in the tropics.

Thankfully John Frieda has issued some of its cult buys in perfect mini sizes, meaning I can now pack everything I need and still have room for a sombrero or two!

First up is the repackaged Frizz Ease range: the mini Shampoo and Conditioner, from the Miraculous Recovery offshoot, is aimed at dry or damaged hair but moreover ideal for hot climates.

Containing an ‘Amino Repair Complex’ – both products treat surface damage to give noticeably smoother hair. While the shampoo deep cleans and preps, the conditioner, in particular – and you only need a little – treats spilt ends with hair feeling silky and glossy after just one use.

After drying, as your final step, spritz hair with the Moisture Barrier Hairspray – perfect for hot climates and to keep hair in place if you are putting it up. It keeps frizz at bay and seals out humidity. Enriched with keratin and special polymers, the formula is ultra-fine but gives a lasting hold. They are ideal sizes to slip into your case.

Small enough to also include, will be these little gems. Firstly – also from the Frizz Ease range – is this tiny Serum. Its John Frieda’s cult product of the Frizz Ease range and is the ideal multi-tasker with a little going a long-way. Add a touch on to damp hair – less is more – and it will keep hair smooth and sleek. Containing a unique blend of silicones, combined with silk protein and ‘Thermal Protectant’, the serum coats each strand of hair so that it doesn’t frizz up in the heat.

Just before blow drying, I spritz a touch of the brand’s Root Booster. It boosts volume and gives fullness – so you feel like you’ve had a professional blow dry (almost!) It contains a unique heat shield technology that protects the hair from heat. It’s the next best thing to a salon appointment.

Finally, I want to give an ‘honourable’ mention here to Vita Liberata‘s Argan & Passion Flower Dry Oil for Hair, Face and Body. It’s the ideal travel companion as not only does it protect hair when sunbathing (with a SPF 25 and it’s also available in SPF 30) but it doubles up for skin, too.

Intensively hydrating, it spritzes on to shield limbs from sun exposure and deeply conditions at the same time. The organic ingredients – Argan oil  renowned for its skin-strengthening abilities and passionflower extract, which leaves skin feeling ‘plumped’ and dewy.

It also contains almond oil and rosehip extract to keep skin super-soft and radiant. The dry oil texture means you are not dripping in oil or cream – as it disappears on contact with the skin. Best of all, it can double up for hair – great for quickly restyling after a swim and keeping hair sleek and neat while on the beach.

It’s my new travel best friend!
