I love watery scents. Reminiscent of bygone times (think rose waters and lilac splashes), they are refreshing and sit comfortably on the skin – with none of that overpowering potency that commercial perfumes tend to have. What a lovely surprise, therefore, that Ghost‘s new Dream scent falls into this category but with a thoroughly modern twist.
The multifaceted, aqueous floral fragrance has a subtle depth. Spritz it on and you’ll find Rose Essential and fragrant Moroccan orange flower as the first ‘hits’. This then deepens to a floral heart of heady Egyptian jasmine and pretty violet on a base of woody notes, ambroxan musks and patchouli.
Central to the fragrance is the unique Aquaflora note – which is that elusive watery essence. The feminine fragrance is inspired by light on shimmering water and the indistinct quality of pink clouds of a summer’s sunset. It’s light yet complex, sensuous yet transparent.
I love the way all of this is translated in the blue-lilac tones of the bottle – like a mermaid’s shimmering scales. Totally enigmatic.
