Just like how we shop for new fashion buys each season, it’s worth taking the same approach with our beauty ‘investments’. Each season we shop the ‘latest from the catwalk’ collections that drop in our favourite stores, and now the beauty world is beginning to echo this approach, with new gems being launched by savvy brands for each season. It’s not just aesthetics at play, however, – although who doesn’t like a lovely batch of beauty gems on their shelf no matter the time of year? – as these launches are aimed at the differing needs of skin when the weather switches between the seasons.
Beuti Skincare first made its name with its hero product Beauty Sleep Elixir – a gorgeous, potent anti-inflammatory skin oil that gives skin a super-boost overnight with its 14 precious plant oils ( the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is reportedly a fan). Following on from its success, the British brand has now launched its Pomegranate Glow Enzyme Cleanser, £35, which is just the thing to keep the complexion in tip-top condition, once the leaves start turning gold and falling off the trees.
This second product from Beauti echoes the brand’s ‘glow’ ethos of offering highly efficient skincare that deliver results with nutritional, natural ingredients. The super-cleanser is packed with fermented pomegranate that acs like a gentle glycolic acid to exfoliate and cleanse skin. It has a gel-balm texture, which is wonderfully comforting and contains rose-clay to deep cleanse skin and refine its texture. Not only does it whip off make-up and the day’s debris, it also soothes and protects agains inflammation due to the copaiba balsam that it contains.
I’ve been gently applying it and rinsing it off with a soft muslin cloth to reveal deep clean, soft skin. It also contains a three flower essence of Iris, Laurel and Myrtle to heal, sooth and keep skin youthful AND for a deep-cleanse treatment mask, you can also leave it on for 5-10 minutes to decongest and refine the skin’s texture. It’s a great winter treat.
Next up, is the latest launch from cutting-edge skincare brand Perricone MD. The Pre:Empt Series Daily Brightening Moisturiser SPF30, £45, is a multi-purpose, lightweight moisturizer with SPF 30 that hydrates, protects and brightens skin.
I’ve been using this each morning as my new daily hydrator, and it seems to have a blurring effect to minimise imperfections and red patches. As well as containing an SPF to provide sun protection as part of my everyday routine, it works to nourish and brighten skin so you look instantly healthier and radiant.
Containing naturally-derived turmeric, olive leaf and green tea, the light formula is perfect for dull skin that needs a lift, and also works as a sun protector making it the perfect all-rounder.
Also from the brand is the No Makeup Instant Blur, £45. This has become my latest beauty must-have. The multi-tasking, priming and perfecting compact contains the skin-smoothing alpha lipoid acid to blur and minimize the look of pores, redness, wrinkles and fine lines.
I’ve been using it over a clean face – after moisturising – focusing on visible pores or areas you want to ‘perfect’ such as wrinkle or oily patches.
It instantly improves the overall tone and look of your skin – leaving it with a natural, satin finish – but with no obvious ‘make-up’ on. It’s perfect as a pre-make-up base but also ideal for those days when you want to go ‘nude’.
The five pure perfumes cost £114 each and are made in France by a young French perfumer. Sensual Oud is a sensual woody scent with notes of saffron, rose and suede at its heart. It is dark and smoky and is one of those ‘wow’ fragrances that is sophisticated and instantly noticeable.Excentrique Moi is a bitter-sweet fragrance – highly unusual with its top notes of pepper and red fruits, heart of hibiscus and black tea and base of white musk and patchouli oil. It’s a perfect winter scent – with green, woody notes with a hint of sweet fruits.
The Gin & Tonic Cologne, meanwhile, will no doubt be the hero of the brand. A green-citrus fragrance, it develops to notes of vetiver and white musk, but opens with grapefruit, lemon zest and cucumber peel. Fresh and crisp, it is the perfect after-work-out scent – refreshing, with its bitter aromatics, and summery with cool, watery tones.
Sea Foam is probably my favourite. I love the marine, sea salt notes – like breathing in big gulps of the sea air. Lemon, bergamot and green leaves are blended with seaweed, minerals and salty tones for a big hit of summer.
Finally, Signature Wild is labelled as an ‘oriental leather’ – it has a heady, fruity scent and uses cinnamon, orange blossom, dried fruits and amber among its ingredients. Its wild and dark yet light as silk – perfectly autumnal.
