Paint on one of the new colours from Essie‘s just-launched Winter 2017 Collection and you’ll find the best accessory you can lay your hands on this season.
Designed by the brand’s Global Colour Designer, Rebecca Minkoff, who was inspired by the glamour of New Year’s Eve in the Big Apple – the new range include on-trend shades and ‘ramped-up’ classics.
Essie is renowned for its innovative approach to nail lacquer. Launched in 1981, it was one of the first brands to come up with the concept of naming its polishes with witty titles, for example, as well as introducing an ever-evolving roster of new colours. Its hard-wearing formulas are loved by professionals and homespun beauty junkies alike.
Forget glitzy one-trick-ponies, however, the collection of six colours is modern and moody, with fashion-led shades, (rather than showy numbers) to suit everyone. Above, on the left, is On Your Mistletoes – a dense Oxford blue, that is the most contemporary of the collection. It dries on like a glossy, dark teal, and it adds an on-trend, sophisticated touch to any outfit. On the right, meanwhile, is Be Cherryl, a classic crimson red which has been ramped-up to be bright and zesty, with a slight touch of fuchsia (making it the perfect Christmas shade).
For those wanting a pared-back neutral nail, then Suit & Tied, a putty-sandy beige, will take you from day to night in an instant (it’s the sort of colour you imagine J-Lo wearing on a night out). On the right, above, Ring In The Bling brings a sense of old-school glamour with its ruby-red shade and gold-pearlescent effect, which also has a darker tinge of blue shot through it.
Finally, we have Social-Lights – a shimmery slate-grey which also has a two-tone effect – there is a touch of copper which catches the light and adds a touch of sparkle, while New Year, New Hue – a rich, deep magenta, is the ideal winter hue – like a rich, warm, plum jumper for your nails. And you can’t say better than that when the temperatures drop.
