Science-savvy skincare, clinical spas and advanced beauty ranges – Switzerland has long had a reputation for being ahead of the game when it comes to looking after ourselves. Now a new swish haircare range Kerluxe – which launched this spring – is endorsing that reputation. What’s more, it is taking a leaf out of the beauty heritage of its home country by borrowing the advancements and research made in skincare and applying it to its avant-garde haircare range. In short: its slick range of products is the equivalent of skincare for hair.
Believing that the scalp and hair should be treated in much the same way as we look after our skin – with high quality ingredients and a personalised approach – it advocates a four-step approach. ‘Cleanse, Hydrate, Treat and Protect’ is the regime and it has packed its products with ingredients usually found in a top-end moisturiser – think: Hyaluronic Acid, Marine Collagen, Peptides and Antioxidants. The aim? To produce healthy-locking locks with a professional finish without the need of stepping into a salon.
The sophisticated packaging – tall, slender bottles are monochrome in design with gold embellishment – gives the feel that they’d better fit in a perfumery rather than on a shower shelf (in fact, prestige Italian fragrance bottles were the inspiration behind the look) and fittingly the products each have their own gorgeous scents.
Best of all is the personalised approach – there’s six collections in all, each offering a shampoo, conditioner, mask and leave-in treatment, designed to target specific hair and scalp problems. It’s easy to choose what will work best for you with the brand’s online Hair Consultation device – which guides you through a few questions (in a few seconds) to select the products which will suit your hair the best (you can also shop normally, of course, once you know which products you favour).
My results led me to the Resplendisse Shampoo and Conditioner which are deeply nourishing, containing four oils and silk proteins to defrizz and lock in moisture. The blend of oils and silk proteins creates a repairing action to smooth and create a protective barrier to breakage, improving control, manageability and restoring shine.
The shampoo has a lush feel to it and lathers up nicely so hair feels super clean after rinsing off. The luxe conditioner drenches the hair in moisture and restructures to boost brittle hair. Working together they act much like an anti-aging moisturiser – with powerful active ingredients which fortify and shield the hair and scalp. Working from the inside out, these restore lost elasticity and density, providing an antioxidant shield to resist further damage and prevent colour fade. Overall hair is left smooth and luminous. Glorious!
Once or twice a week, the Hair Mask completes the prep work. Mine is from the Luminage range – which works like an anti-ageing rescue treatment to reverse the signs of damage caused by over-styling, colour and chemical treatments. The mask, rich in actives including Hyaluronic Acid, Phytoceramides and Marine Collagen, is like a super-boost for hair. Colour looks brighter, volume is vamped up and there is a discernible shine to your locks. Comb it through hair and it works within five minutes, after rinsing and styling, hair just looks its swinging best.
The Kerluxe range also includes this Multi-Tasking 360° Hair Cream, a styling product that suits all hair types – it smooths hair and makes styling super-easy so that it is left lustrous and frizz-free. With their light fragrances, results-driven ethos and luxury feel, the Kerluxe collection is revolutionising how we see how hair and its care.
