Epsom Salts have long been known for their relaxing and detoxing qualities. Having first been discovered in the 17th century, sourced from a saline spring in Epsom, Surrey (coincidentally the town where I now live), they actually differ from traditional salt as the latter is made up of sodium chloride, while Epsom Salts are made of magnesium sulphate. This compound happens to be a mineral that many of us are lacking in and so using the salts in a number of ways can bring health benefits.
Harnessing their goodness is a new bath salts range from leading UK aromatherapy brand Absolute Aromas. The bath remedy uses Epsom Salts infused with pure essential oils, which release further beneficial properties for a rejuvenating soak in the bath.
From helping to relax the nervous system to soothing irritated skin, from calming aches and pains to easing muscle strain and drawing toxins from the body, the natural salts are a wonderful health boost, fixing a number of health complaints.
As well as Detoxing, Mobility for easing tired muscles, Lavandar to aid sleep and De-stress, there is also the Relaxation Salts, £4.50, shown here. Containing essential oils renowned for their relaxing properties, such as Vetiver, Ylang Ylang and Chamomile, these have been designed to help unwind and soothe, after a long day on your feet. In addition, the salts also contains Clary Sage, which is both uplifting and balancing to the emotions, and Patchouli which is grounding and sensual.
After adding a couple of handfuls into a warm bath, lie back and relax. The addition of Lavender and Tangerine Essential Oils also help unwind and calm the mind.
