Silke London: channels your inner ballerina

by angelinavc

When Silke London launched its silk hair wraps a few years ago, it signalled a general trend of a return to glamour. Available in a choice of rainbow jewel colours, as well as jet black, champagne and indigo blue, the silk cover-ups that protect your hair while you sleep, transport you to the heady days of the 50s, and allow us to exude our inner starlet.

The brand soon went on to expand its range for day-use with the covetable collection of silk-covered hair ties. So covetable, in fact, that once restocked, they often sell out due to high demand. Currently full to bursting, with a full range of ties in eye-popping gem colours and classic black, as well as a chic Champagne shade (shown here) the London-based company has also boosted popularity with its new ‘Millennial Pink’ packaging.

Channelling the elegance of a prima ballerina – think chignons and wispy buns – the Champagne shade is the perfect neutral hue to match any outfit. With a strong elastic covered by a 100% pure silk exterior, the SILKE Hair Ties have been designed to keep hair in place, yet glide against it so there is no damage caused by the usual tugging of abrasive traditional elastics.

I’ve been using mine to secure a pony tail – with the barely-there creamy-pink just peeking through. They also work as a ‘double whammy’: use the band to make a pony tail and then wrap hair around the tie, doubling up with another tie to make a bun.

As well as giving an  ‘oh-so-pretty’ effect, the ties also protect and nourish hair throughout the day and into the evening. Preventing kinks, split ends and damage, they work hard while you look good.
