Transporting me to the sun-drenched fields of Provence and filling my home with the aromas of southern France is this gorgeous Green Fig Candle from Branche d’Olive, £25.
Inspired by the authentic style of France, Branche d’Olive offers a range of gloriously-scented home fragrances, bath and body products. British founders Jane Comyn and Ruth Watson started the company after they used to scour French markets for painted furniture and home accessories. After coming across an artisanal, triple-milled Marseilles soap, they wanted to source other products with a similar heritage, while following the simple philosophy of quality without compromise, style without complication and so Branche d’Olive was born.
With its tasteful packaging (tissue-paper-wrapped glass vessels in cream linen boxes tied with grosgrain ribbon) and polished-rustic design ethos, the brand champions the concept of Mediterranean well-being. Over the years the label has grown into a wide range of products with craftsmanship at their heart.
I love the fresh, green fruit notes of the Green Fig candle, which have been blended with blackcurrant, soft vanilla and cistus: all reminiscent of a stroll through a sun-dappled fig grove. I love lighting this at night, to wind down with a good book or as a welcoming light when friends pop around. Autumn may have arrived outside, but this is a little reminder of the long days of summer yet to return.
