It’s the Holy Grail of beauty: how to combat the signs of ageing – and long-time UK beauty brand Neal’s Yard Remedies may have cracked it. Its Frankincense Intense Lift Serum, £75, and Lift Cream, £65, are the perfect coupling. A duo that works together to tackle those pesky signs of ageing – such as loss of tone, firmness, deep lines and wrinkles.
Apply the rich Serum first on clean skin. It sinks in quickly, giving a nice finish to the complexion. It has a plumping action, too, so skin looks more youthful and deep lines seem to be erased. The hydrating hyaluronic acid evens out skin and blurs wrinkles. Best of all is the holistic approach that Neal’s Yard is well known for – it contains Frankincense essential oils and it smells like divine – helping you relax as you start your day. I also love the iconic royal blue packaging – which look so pretty on a dressing table.
Follow up with the multi-action Lift Cream which – as it says on the tin – lifts and re-contours, while boosting skin with an ultra-nourishing trio of organic butters and oils. The result is that skin is strengthened, softened and restored to its former glory. It also contains the brand’s exclusive ‘Frankincense Active Phyto Complex’ – which protects collagen and has an antioxidant effect. It’s not too heavy or rich and sinks in quickly – overall the effect gives a velvety glow and is the perfect base pre-makeup.
Neal’s Yard Remedies is one of my favourite brands due to its scientific ‘know-how’ married with its deep-rooted natural ethos. Established in 1981, it calls itself a ‘modern apothecary’, with a wide choice of natural and organic pampering ranges. It is known for using the highest possible percentage of organic ingredients in its products as well as ethically-sourced herbs, botanicals and essential oils.
Also worth a mention, and also from the Frankincense range, is another ‘hero’ product – the Frankincense & Mandarin Body Polish, £17.50. This exfoliator smoothes and rejuvenates to reveal soft and supple skin but also enriches and hydrates the skin.
Gently apply in the shower – it’s not too rough like some scrubs. Cranberry seed and rice powders are mixed with cleansing green clay, and nourishing olive, pumpkin and hemp seed oils gently polish the body. The enrichment of frankincense, mandarin and bergamot oils give added toning and softening benefits as well as an uplifting fragrance. You’ll step out, smooth and scented. Love.
