Full steam ahead with the new gen Steamcream

by angelinavc

Any beauty buff worth her – or his – salt, will already know about Steamcream. When this all-in-one cream launched 14 years ago, it was such a cult buy, with beauty connoisseurs collecting all the lovely, different patterned tins you could get. Now – after a period of time off the radar in the UK – the Japanese brand is back with some new updates.

One of the things that made Steamcream so popular – and which is still the case – is the fact that it is a do-it-all moisturiser for face, body and hands. For those who like fuss-free beauty, which is kind to the skin, this is the answer. It is also handmade by artisans in small batches in Japan, using high-quality, natural ingredients fused together by a shot of pure steam. This innovative Pure Steam Process makes the cream extremely lightweight and fast-absorbing, providing long-lasting hydration. Rather than using mechanical emulsifiers to blend its products, Steamcream also uses a very unique Steam Emulsification Process to emulsify the cream, a method dating back to 18th-century France.

Since 2007, the brand has focused on the one hero product. Coupled with its authenticity and heritage-processes, it was one of the reasons why the product gained cult status. But, the formula is also as unique as the processes – meaning it quickly gained a reputation as beauty essential that really works. At its heart is an hand-pressed oatmeal infusion, steam-emulsified with almond oil, jojoba oil and cocoa butter. Four essential oils (lavender, neroli, chamomile and rose) are also blended for maximise efficacy, yet gentle on the skin. The result is a light, delicate cream, which sinks in wonderfully, leaving skin deeply hydrated, even and velvety to the touch. It’s perfect for everyday use, holidays (when we can have them!), for all the family and for sensitive skins.

Now, taking the concept one step further, the brand has launched its new collection – the Seasonals Line – a seasonal line-up of ‘tweaked’ products that focus around the different seasonal transitions that our skin experiences. First up, is the Steamcream Japanese Citrus Moisturiser, £15.95, specifically blended for the summer months of May to July. This is soothing and refreshing, with an uplifting blend of Japanese citrus – ideal for when the temperature dial goes up. It has been conceived to target the sudden increase in heat and sunlight, which often occurs between May and July. As a result, the skin can produce more oil which can lead to clogged pores. At the same time, going from outdoor heat to the drying effects of indoor air-conditioning can cause skin to lose water – making it feel tight and appear dull. This feather-light, fast-absorbing moisturiser tackles all these ‘issues’ – instantly hydrating, deeply conditioning and soothing skin.
