“Dream Big!” “Show Up!” The little boxes are emblazoned with their bold statements. Next time you are down an Aldi aisle, make a detour to the beauty section – specifically to its in-house Lacura range to find these little gems. If you know, you know – Lacura has long been is the queen of the beauty dupe. And if you are tight on budget, the line-up of cult beauty ‘copies’ are very nearly as good as the real thing and do live up to the hype surrounding them (be warned though: when they’re gone, they’re gone, so you need to snap them up quick).
The latest offering is this Bronzer and Highlighter duo. Look familiar? Just possibly, it’s based on Benefit’s Hoola bronzer and Cookie Powder highlighter. At just £4.99 each – you can’t go wrong anyway – but these aren’t your average low-budget buys, for Lacura has serious know-how behind it.
From the tropical packaging, to the little square brush and inner mirror – the packaging for the Dream Big Bronzer is remarkable similar to Benefit’s. The bronzer itself is also fantastic – with a high pigment count, and premium feel. Swipe it on and it leaves skin with a matt, sun-kissed look. Adding colour and glow, it’s as though you’ve just returned from tropical climes (the nearest thing we’ll get to it, this year!)
Lacura’s Show Up Highlighter, meanwhile, has a cute blue leaf print on its box. This is ideal for perfecting your look, adding a subtle shimmer to cheekbones, nose and forehead. Anywhere where the light would naturally hit. It’s a supermarket showstopper.
