HUM’s FAN CLUB – an ode to the menopause

by angelinavc

It’s so enlightening – and heartening –to finally see the recognition, new research AND the many new product launches coming out to help women going through the perimenopause and menopause. Finally, it seems that it’s no longer a subject to be swept under the carpet or the case that women have to suffer in silence.

New from the innovative LA-based HUM Nutrition is FAN CLUB – a natural and targeted supplement for women going through the menopause, as well as those suffering from peri or post menopause. Easy to take, the capsules are tiny and easy to swallow, and they target the huge range of symptoms women can suffer.

A perimenopause ‘help kit’ from the brand

It is no secret that for some women, the journey from perimenopause through to the menopause can be riddled with challenging symptoms. These include hot flashes and night sweats, but also mood swings, sleep difficulties, brain fog, and sexual problems.

FAN CLUB, says HUM, has been formulated to help navigate these symptoms with a unique formulation of Siberian Rhubarb Root, Grape Seed Extract and probiotics. “The clinically studied formula helps reduce the severity of the most common 11 symptoms including hot flashes, heart racing, sleeplessness, mood swings, irritability, restlessness, fatigue, low sex drive, bladder problems, vaginal dryness, joint and muscle discomfort,” says the brand.

HUM Nutrition also prides itself on offering a ‘support system’ for what is a natural part of every woman’s life, with expert education and a community to tap into, for those going through the menopause. On HUM’s website, customers can access the WELLNEST blog and an ‘Ask The Nutritionist’ section, which is teaming with information.

Vice president at HUM Nutrition, Dr. Jennifer Martin-Biggers, for example, recommends certain foods that you need to include within your diet to support metabolic and bone changes that occur during the menopause.

She explains: “Foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids such as fatty fish like salmon, are good for brain health. Additionally, eating sufficient protein, especially lean protein, supports muscle mass, which starts to decline due to hormone changes during the perimenopause.”

She also gives vital advice to help all women going through this time: “Protein also helps to keep you feeling full which can be beneficial for weight management. As estrogen levels decline during the menopause years, abdominal (visceral) fat tends to increase. In the UK, it is estimated women gain on average, 2kg over the entire menopause transition. Physical activity, especially strength and balance activities, are also key to support your bone strength, weight, metabolism, heart and brain health. Fibre such as beans and legumes is also helpful for satiety and healthy bowel movements. Foods high in calcium and vitamin D also help support bone strength (dairy or fortified non-dairy milks, supplements such as Fan ClubTM and fortified foods), whilst alcohol, spicy foods and caffeine should be avoided if you are you are experiencing hot flashes.”

FAN CLUB is a refreshing addition to your ‘DIY’ kit for dealing with the Perimenopause. Now with added information, such as books like ‘The Perimenopause Solution’, plus dietary additions, such as herbal infusions, and new Apps, such as ‘Health and Her’ – we can each build our own health kit to help us through this time.
