Is this the last great, untouched spot in the Caribbean? I recently visited Bequia - one of the Grenadine islands - and found a place which still retains a rare, barefoot appeal. Lazy days unfold after dips in the sea, and hearing folklore tales of whales and pirates. There’s calypso played on the roadside and conch fritters for lunch. Sorbet-coloured houses are decorated with seashells and fishermen pull in their catches of snapper, as you pass on the road. The low-key @bequiabeachhotel is an idyllic place to stay. There are no TVs, just the sound of the waves to lull you to sleep after a meal of barbecued jerk pork and rice n peas. By day, you can hop on its luxury yacht - The Star of the Seas - and head over to Mustique for drinks at @basilsbarmustique What’s more, getting here is easy on @bequia_air straight from Barbados. I recently had a sneak peak inside one of the UK’s most historic houses - @avingtonp It was used by the court of King Henry VIII and where King Charles II lived with his mistress Nell Gwynn. After a £6m renovation, it is now open for sole hire for special events, sumptuous parties and weddings.
